Al and Impy were on 5.7s when we got there at 8:15. But we thought that
looked too much. I measured 30 knots, so we rigged our 4.0 for me and a 3.4
for Sarah.
We went out and had a completely out of control blast across and back. As
we got back we dumped our kit on the beach and were discussing the fact
that the wind had picked up. I went to get my indicator as Al and Impy came
in. The wind was now 40 knots, so Sarah and I hid in the car and waited for
it to calm down.
Eventually Al & Impy went back out and seemed to be managing ok, (but they
are both better than us). We watched them for a bit, and they were making
some nice gybes, so we decided it was time to get back out there.
It was still blowing 30+ knots and we had no trouble getting going on our
4.0 & 3.4. The sea state had flattened off a bit as well, so we started to
blast about near the shore. I was making a lot of waterstarts, (mostly
after failed tacks and gybes, but also after a number of horrible
catapults).
We sailed until the sand bar appeared and the run on the tide was getting
difficult.
Ynyslas is crazy on a North-Easterly…. :) and this is still summer :)
